We currently offer a range of special guided tours, such as ‘Taking Shelter in the Municipal Cave’ and ‘Cycling History in the Municipal Cave’. These can be booked on request for groups of 10 people or more. Keep an eye on our website for events and special offers.
All our guided tours depart on time. Unfortunately, this means the guide cannot wait for you. Please report to the member of staff at our ticket office upon arrival. You can then join the next available tour that still has places available.
Group discounts are available for groups of 25 people or more.
There are various parking facilities in Valkenburg.
Guests are permitted to board and exit the bus at the entrance at Cauberg 4. The bus must then be parked in one of the designated bus parking spaces in the city centre.
Pets are not allowed in the Municipal Cave.
All guided tours are accessible to visitors with reduced mobility. For the guided tour by train, however, you will need to be able to walk a short distance unaided and step up onto the train. It is not possible to take strollers, (electric) wheelchairs or walking assistants onto the train. These can be left at the departure point. The guided walking tour covers a distance of approximately one and a half kilometres, spread over 60 minutes. There will be some changes in level. However, there are no stairs during the tour.
Although our corridors are quite wide and high, we would still advise visitors who suffer from claustrophobia or a fear of confined spaces not to take part in a guided tour.
Yes, you are welcome to take photographs and/or video recordings. Please bear in mind, however, that this is a guided tour and we are therefore unable to stop for extended periods to allow you to take photographs and/or videos.
Yes, there are public toilets available. There is a charge for using these toilets. A toilet for disabled people is also available.
Yes, the cave is suitable for all ages.
No, the cave can only be visited with a guide.
No, the Museum Year Card is not valid here.

There is approximately 70 kilometres of tunnel network, 30 kilometres of which are accessible.
The mining of marl began in 1250.
The last of the marl was extracted from the quarry in 1920.
